Cohort-Based Communities

Growing a community is hard.

Going from zero to ten and then ten to 100 members is not something that's easy. While also making sure members stay engaged and are sharing enough to add value to one another.

Instead of trying to get people in en masse, what about you do the opposite?

Create small cohorts of 20 to 30 people. Build a two, four, or six week program just for them. Helping them solve a particular problem that's a pillar of the community's purpose and goal.

This will create content and conversation for the overall community while helping everyone create relationships.

Then after they complete they are integrated to the community to keep working and learning together.

Rinse and repeat.

I think this could be a smarter way to grow a community now.

It's getting so hard to get and keep someone's attention. So if you can get their attention for multiple weeks and add value quickly, the chance they stick around in the community will go up.
